FAQ For Your Kelowna Roofing

How do I know if my roof has problems?

If your shingles are:

* Blistered

* Curled

* Split

* Loose or missing granules

* Damaged or missing

* Cracks on Roof Sheething

* Water stains on ceiling

* Your home is very hot in the summer and cold in the winter

I have granules in my gutter, is that ok?

This typically occurs because the sun and weather can be rough on a shingle. The granules are there to protect the other components of the shingle from these. As more granules are shed, the lifespan of your shingles becomes shorter.

I have water dripping from my fan. What do I do?

You should call a professional to have a look in your attic and on your roof for signs of a leak or condensation. This can occur from improper installation of the fan or from improper ventilation in the attic.

My roof is leaking. What is the best thing to do?

Call a professional to come have a look at the leak. It is important to have the leak dealt with as quickly as possible. Even a small leak can do large amounts of damage to your home.

When should I call Elevation Roofing to come and inspect my roof?

How long will my new roof last?

There are many factors that dictate how long your roof will last. The weather, from the wind, sun and rain, and how much the roof is exposed to such factors. Large trees close to the home. Proper ventilation is needed on top of the roof and in your soffits. All these factors take part in the life span of your shingles.

Does a new roof help increase my homes value?

Yes. It provides an excellent selling feature as an old roof needing replacing will more than likely be negotiated in the sale. A new roof will also help secure your home insurance.

How much does a typical roof cost?

A roof can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000. The average shingle roof will cost about $5,000. Call us for your free estimate and we will provide you with all the information you will need to know about the value of replacing your roof.

How important is roof ventilation?

Proper ventilation in your roof is key to getting the longest life out of your new roof as you can. Without proper ventilation, many problems can occur both to the shingles and to the rest of your home.

How important is roofing underlay?

Underlay is very important. This helps keep the shingles off of the roof decking, acts as a backup if water manages to get under a shingle, and helps with ice damming and other issues. More importantly in the Okanagan, underlay over the entire roof will achieve the Class A fire rating for your shingles.

What kind of roof should I get?

This is a decision that will be based on the performance and requirements you will want the roof to have. We offer differing products that we will be glad to help you research for your home.

What types of shingles are there?

The majority of shingles used now are laminated asphalt/fiberglass. They have the typical row of granules on top to provide protection, followed by layers of asphalt and fiberglass to give the shingle its strength and durability.
